Values Our values matter to us. As solicitors we value our professionalism and integrity above all, and these are never compromised. Aside from that, we’re a mass of contradictions. We believe in being respectful and courteous with everyone we deal with, but that doesn’t mean being soft on the problem. If you need us to be tough, determined and assertive we can do that. At the same time we are objective, analytical and cool-headed. That is not at the expense of being sensitive and empathetic. We like to present a human face which is not blinkered by traditional legal thinking, but which is prepared to think pragmatically and even creatively around a problem. Any lawyer can tell you about the law; we believe that’s not enough and that being flexible and approachable is compatible with a quality service. Being cost-conscious is at the forefront of all that we do, as we appreciate that this is always a pressure for clients, big or small. If you need thoroughness and detail, we can do that; or if you need a pragmatic commercial approach, that’s also fine. It’s the client’s choice, not ours. |
Approach Some clients need a strong advocate to stand by them as they deal with a difficult decision or situation. Others welcome a measured and carefully-balanced approach which does not create more damage in working relationships. We know how to be hard on the problem without necessarily being hard on people; professionalism, respect and courtesy are values that we adhere to at all times. We start by listening and identifying the client’s objectives, then agree what practical steps can be taken. We like to work collaboratively, with the client, with each other and with other professionals where appropriate. This may include HR professionals, accountants, tax or pensions advisors, all of whom we have established relationships with. We present a human face that is accessible and approachable, and which recognises that our clients have individual needs and preferences. We stand shoulder to shoulder with our clients during decisions or processes that can be both difficult and stressful. We see our role as enabling clients to deal with whatever situation it is that brings them through our doors. |
What you won't get from us We don’t use jargon or write long legal essays when we give advice, nor assume we know what our clients want. Our service does not come out of a manual and is not ‘one size fits all’. We do not like giving clients a lecture on the law, nor a list of reasons not to do that thing they want to do. We are not pompous, stuffy or humourless. If you like the sound of us, please Contact us. |
